How to make the Shan Shen Bu meme with your own photo
Updated · Shanshenbu Dance
Sign in, upload one photo of yourself standing head to feet, make a 5, 10 or 15-second MP4 with credits. A few minutes later you get a vertical video that starts from your photo: you stand stiff, lunge sideways in a flash and snap back, left and right, then drop into a crouching back kick and stare into the camera.

The photo
Step by step
- Sign in with Google or your email. No password, no app.
- Choose one photo. One person standing, whole body from head to feet, facing the camera, in good light, with room on both sides: the video keeps your photo's place and framing.
- Upload it on the home page, pick the length (5 to 15 seconds), quality and format, and tick the box: Photos of yourself, or of adults who agreed to have their photo used for this.
- Make the video with credits: a 10-second 720p video uses 40 credits; credits from $6.99 for 50, or a monthly plan.
- Wait 2 to 5 minutes. The video shows up in My videos when it's ready.
- Download the MP4 (on iPhone, Save to Photos) and post it, labelled as AI-generated.
What you get
- A 5 to 15-second MP4 (9:16, 16:9) up to 720p, with a drum and gong beat the AI makes, or no sound if you turn it off (pick the trend's original sound in TikTok when you post), no watermark.
- You stand stiff, feet together, arms at your sides
- A sudden wide lunge to one side, snapped straight back, then the other side
- A crouching back kick with hands up, and a deadpan stare into the camera
Photos that don't work well
- Sitting, lying down or cut off at the knees: the lunge needs your legs.
- Two or more people: it takes one person per video.
- Dark or blurry photos, sunglasses, a mask or a heavy beauty filter.
- Photos of yourself, or of adults who agreed to have their photo used for this.
- Never anyone under 18, and no public figures or celebrities.
Post it like the meme
In China the joke is dodging: people say the flash step gets them out of extra work and onto a rush-hour train. Caption what you're dodging.
- Me when someone says "quick favor"
- Getting onto the 8:15 train like
- Dodging Monday with intangible cultural heritage
